Project:
An exploration on the theme of "Being Human", delving into personal thoughts on family and the attachment to family homes. My film, "55", portrays a sense of nostalgia and poignance around the life embedded within my Papa's home.
Completed at a transition point, my Papa having moved into a care home, leaving East Kilbride and the house my family had continuously occupied for 55 years. It lay vacant for the first time, as my grandparents bought their home directly from the town's development corporation in the 1960s.
Analogue slides project family stories within the interior, alongside the sound of an original record found during the house clearance.
"55" aims to express the difficult universal emotions attached to losing relatives, as they pass away or move into later stages of life.
